About Vital Pulse
Who runs Vital Pulse
The Vital Pulse Index is built and operated by Vitagri Org Ltd, a UK organisation focused on the link between soil health, crop nutrient density and human health outcomes. The technical scaffold extends the existing Vitagri site infrastructure; the methodology, panel and editorial direction are run by a named team plus an independent reviewer panel.
Governance
Vital Pulse v1.0 is published under Vitagri internal review. Rob Ward, CEO of Vitagri Org Ltd, acts as methodology approver and issues the out-of-band authorisation token required for each monthly publish. An independent methodology panel may be appointed in future and would assume both roles; any change to governance is recorded here and in the /api/vital-pulse/panel response. Vitagri Org Ltd discloses any material commercial interest that could shape a reading in the same place.
Review cadence
The methodology approver reviews:
- Annually — full methodology re-review, weight check, source-status check.
- Per monthly publish — approver authorisation only; no full re-review unless a methodology version bump is being applied.
- On methodology version bump — full re-review, sign-off recorded in the audit log.
Funding
Vitagri Org Ltd self-funds Vital Pulse as part of its public-infrastructure remit. The Vital Pulse dashboard and API are open data licensed CC-BY 4.0 and carry no SaaS pricing.
Bionutrient Institute partnership
Vital Pulse explicitly cites the Bionutrient Institute's 1–100 nutrient-density scale as the underlying per-food rating method for Pillar 2. The VPI is the population-level rollup of that scale, not a competitor to it. BI-attributed readings carry a visible attribution flag in the dashboard, the API response and the embed widget.
