Calf health leads a new week

Farming podcasts leaned hard into precision agtech, while nutrition shows chewed over fermented foods, eating pace and gut-liver health, with food-safety and animal-health stories bridging the two worlds.

The series

Every edition

Weekly. Each edition covers a Thursday-to-Wednesday week. 1 edition so far, newest first.

How each edition is made

Listened, grouped, ranked, checked

The Field Report is built by Pulse, Vitagri’s evidence system, and edited by people. The method is the same every week, so one edition can be read against the next.

  1. Listened

Pulse Signal follows a registered roster of 101 farming and nutrition podcasts and publications, and extracts the topics and claims each episode makes.

  2. Grouped

Similar items are grouped into topics. A group that does not hold together as one story is set aside, and topics used recently are held back.

  3. Ranked

Each topic scores out of 10: Reach up to 4, On brief up to 3, Evidence up to 2, New 1. The trend compares this week’s sources with the four weeks before.

  4. Checked

Every quoted claim is set against the closest published studies in Pulse Brain, 32,000+ graded research records, and their evidence grade.

  • Ten ranked topicsThe week’s news on each, why it matters, and one attributed quote.
  • One wildcardThe outlier the ranking buries: two sources at most, far from the ten.
  • And finallySomething lighter to go out on.
  • A scored predictionThe three themes we expect to lead next week, scored the week after.

Questions

About the Field Report

What is the Vitagri Field Report?

A weekly broadcast from Vitagri on what the trusted farming and nutrition podcasts and publications discussed in the previous seven days. Each edition ranks ten topics, adds one wildcard almost nobody is talking about, and ends on something lighter. It comes as a film on YouTube, an episode on Spotify and a written edition on Substack.

How are the topics chosen?

Pulse Signal, part of Vitagri’s evidence system, listens to a registered roster of 101 podcasts and publications and extracts the topics and claims each episode makes. Similar items are grouped into topics and each topic scores out of 10: Reach up to 4 (how many independent sources discussed it), On brief up to 3, Evidence up to 2 and New 1. A score ranks a shortlist; it is not a verdict on the week’s news.

Does Vitagri endorse what is quoted?

No. Everything quoted is reported speech, attributed to the show and the speaker and never asserted as settled. Declared interests are named wherever a source has one, and each quoted claim is set against the closest published studies in Pulse Brain with their evidence grade: the study and the grade, not a verdict.

What is the weekly prediction?

Each edition names the three themes we expect to lead the following week. The prediction is saved when the edition is released, never replaced, and scored in the next edition. The running accuracy is on the dashboard.

Where can I see the sources?

Every edition page lists each show and publication it quotes or cites, with a link and a line on what it covered. The dashboard lists every source heard that week.
